Kunming Day 2

Kunming Day 2

Our second day in Kunming unfortunately saw some members of our group get food poisoning at the beginning of the day before we left for our activities. While I was lucky not to get this, I thought it showed how different food from around the world can be sometimes. Everyone’s body can react differently, especially when you are used to a specific type of food or diet in America.

We started the day by traveling to the Stone Forest. This was as vast a regular forest, only instead of trees, it consisted of large, limestone rocks. It was truly unlike anything I have ever seen and was incredible to behold. There was a large forest, and a small forest, and we walked through the small forest so we could have more time for other activities that day. I thought it was pretty cool that something like this existed in nature, yet many people don’t really know about it.

We then ate lunch, and after some deliberation from our group, changed plans to visit the Jiaxing Cave. It’s funny that this wasn’t on our original itinerary because this ended up being my favorite part of the trip so far. We were able to explore this old Chinese cave that seemed like it was never-ending. It had waterfalls, rising staircases, and was updated with a cool light scheme that added a lot of personality to the cave. At some points, it seemed almost like a videogame. Between this and the Stone Forest, I saw some sights that truly showed me how important it is to explore the world and see all that it has to offer.
